Beyond Horizons Youth & Family Services is based in Shepparton and provides care and support to children and young people on Yorta Yorta Country.

We recognise that for Aboriginal children and young people, connection to Country, culture, family, kin and community is an important part of identity, belonging and wellbeing.

At BHYFS, we aim to provide culturally safe and respectful care by:

• Supporting connection to Country, family, kin and community
• Respecting each young person’s individual cultural identity
• Supporting cultural plans and cultural goals
• Encouraging participation in appropriate cultural and community activities
• Working respectfully with families, Aboriginal organisations and cultural supports
• Listening to the voice of the young person and what culture means to them

We also recognise that Aboriginal children from other Nations have their own Country, culture and community connections, which should be respected and maintained throughout their care.
